BITSAT is the entrance exam conducted by BITS

BITSAT is the entrance exam conducted by BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science) Pilani for students who are seeking admission into its colleges for engineering courses. BITS Pilani is deemed to be the top private engineering college in the country and one of the toughest to get into. It is known for its top-notch campus facilities, world class infrastructure, diverse student base, and renowned faculty members. It has 3 campuses in India, namely in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. Every year, lakhs of students apply and appear for BITSAT (BITS Aptitude Test) in the hopes to get into one of its prestigious college campuses.

One of the most frequently asked questions about engineering in India is: JEE Main or BITSAT – which is tougher? Now, based on the experiences of students who have appeared for both the entrance exams in the past, BITSAT is a tad tougher. This could be due to two possible reasons. Firstly, BITSAT has an additional subject besides Physics, Chemistry, and Math, that is, Verbal and Logical Reasoning which most students find difficulty in or totally avoid answering. This section carries 75 marks for 25  questions, the loss of which can affect a student’s rank by thousands! Secondly, BITSAT is conducted by BITS and not by CBSE as is the case with JEE so when it comes to JEE, the students are used to the syllabus (which is the same as the CBSE 10+2 syllabus), exam pattern, frequently asked questions, study materials, etc. With BITSAT, however, it is a completely new battlefield, so to speak. This is why we usually don’t see students appearing for BITSAT as much as for JEE. Even the ones who do actually prepare and appear for JEE first before attempting BITSAT.
